教育背景

1945年毕业于西南联合大学物理系。1946-1951年北京大学物理系任教。1951年赴苏联列别杰夫物理研究所攻读研究生,1955年获苏联副博士学位。1955-1966年,任中国科学院物理研究所研究室主任。1966-1987年任中国科学院长春物理所。1980年当选中国科学院院士。1987-1996年天津理工学院材料物理研究所。1996年调入北京交通大学,现任北京交通大学光电子技术研究所名誉所长、博士生导师。

1991年“癌血清特征荧光”获中国科学院科技进步奖二等奖,联合国教科文组织“科技之星”称号,1999年获何梁何利基金科学与技术进步奖,2005年“院士科普图书《营造绚丽多彩的光世界》”获国家科技进步奖二等奖, 2010年“固态阴极射线发光及相关发光材料”获高等学校科学研究优秀成果一等奖。
